Fike Flame Detectors
Ultra-fast detection of hydrocarbon and hydrogen fires are possible with Fike optical flame detectors. Their resistance to weather conditions and false alarms, and ability to detect smoke and oil mist with Fike Video Analytics, make UV/IR optical detection ideal for high-risk environments.
Optical flame detectors identify fires and explosions in as few as 5 milliseconds and offer high visibility of up to 100 ft.
- IR3 – Detects hydrocarbon fuel and gas fires at long distances. With its triple spectrum design, it provides the highest immunity to false alarms
- IR3-H2 – Detects invisible hydrogen (H2) gas fires at long distances. Its triple spectrum protects against false alarms
- UV-IR – A UV and IR detector that detects hydrocarbon-based fuel and gas fires, hydroxyl and hydrogen fires, as well as metal and inorganic fires
- HD Camera – Optional add-on that provides live video and recording of one minute pre-event and three minutes post-event – may also run Fike Video Analytics.
Fike Video Analytics
Software that combines the enhanced resolution and picture clarity of a standard network camera with built-in flame, smoke and motion detector capabilities. May be combined with Fike Flame Detectors for an FM-approved technology that detects:
- Presence of flames within the field of view of the camera
- Reflected fire light when flames are obstructed
- Presence of smoke plumes and ambient smoke
- Unauthorized Intrusion
Fike Video Analytics is particularly helpful in power generation or ship engine applications where oil mist is common and has the ability to reach hot surfaces, or in waste management facilities where the incipient stages of a fire are obstructed and may only be identified from a plume of smoke.
Linear Heat Detection
Linear heat detection senses excessive temperature or fire conditions at any point along the cable and alerts the control panel. These cables may measure several miles long and are often the ideal solution to provide early warning detection in challenging environments such as long tunnels, spacious warehouses and more.
Fike Distributed Temperature Sensing (DTS) – Measures temperatures in real time along the length of the fiber optic cable by transmitting pulses of laser light and analyzing the return signal, and allows precise identification of the fire.
Protectowire Linear Heat Cable – Detects early stages of fire when increased heat melts a heat-reactive polymer. When the two conductors touch, an electrical short occurs and the connected PIM-530 module relays the information to the fire panel.
Xtralis VESDA Air Sampling
VESDA air monitoring solutions actively pull in room air to a special chamber where they can detect particles created in the earliest stages of combustion, well before smoke becomes visible. With the world’s widest sensitivity range, VESDA systems provide multi-level warnings that deliver the critical time needed to initiate a fast, flexible response.
Beyond early detection, VESDA systems are designed for environments where downtime, contamination or delayed alarms carry high consequences. Because the system constantly samples air, it performs reliably in harsh or complex spaces such as data centers, manufacturing areas, clean rooms and power generation facilities where traditional spot detectors may struggle.
Thermal Imaging Cameras
Offering fire, process monitoring and pre-explosion protection capabilities, industrial thermal imaging cameras accurately identify hot spots or overheated equipment, providing early warning to avoid equipment damage or personnel risk.
Thermal imaging cameras are ideal to detect:
- manufacturing or process equipment temperature increase prior to equipment damage
- lithium or other battery over temperature prior to off gassing and thermal runaway
- an overheated engine, which could create a fire if reached by oil mist.
- the incipient stages of a smoldering nest or fire in a waste management facility or outdoor storage
